One Of A Kind Staffordshire Special

Like many of my favourite vintage finds, today's piece was designed and created in Staffordshire. However, unlike the Meakin and Midwinter pieces, this one is a one-off. You will not find another like it anywhere. It was produced in September 1954, and has aged exceptionally well.

Unique, inspiring, and definitely vintage, this is my Dad.

Happy 60th birthday Dad!  A true classic.

Kathie Winkle Rushton Coffee Pot

If you were to visit my home, you would notice that I have rather a lot of vintage coffee pots. While sensible people would pick a design they love and collect a full set of crockery of that design, I picked an object I generally like the shape of, and collect it in All The Designs. (Well, the ones I love, anyway.) There are so many stunning designs from the 60s/70s period, how could I possibly choose one? Also, you never know when 50 people might drop by your house and all require coffee simultaneously.

I wanted to write a post about my very first coffee pot, but then I realised that I'm such a coffee pot ho at this point, I don't remember which was the first. However, this one is a strong possibility, and certainly one of the very earliest.

It is Ironstone Broadhurst - Rushton design, by Kathie Winkle. Great condition.

Dishwasher proof! Not that I would EVER chance it.

Mug Shots

I can't tell you much about these mugs, except that I spotted them on a bottom shelf in a charity shop, and my heart did that that little flutter that it does when something is Just Right.

There are no markings on them, so I have no idea who made them and when. I would guess seventies? They're delightfully chunky and solid and shiny.

All four are in remarkably good shape with only a few minor nibbles.

Grumpy Dog

Meet Grumpy Dog.

Grumpy Dog has been searching his whole life for a fuck to give, and hasn't found one.  His garden of fucks is barren.

Grumpy Dog hates everybody and everything.  He hates me, and he hates you.  Yes you, reading this right now.

Grumpy Dog sat in a charity shop for weeks scowling at everyone, and I kept not buying him.  It got to where I looked out for him every time I went in there, and I realised that if he ever disappeared I would be sad.  So now he lives on a shelf above my desk, frowning disparagingly at everything I do, and my life is all the better for it.
